Eric Timothy Carlson, a role model

I was recently listening to indie folk singer Bon Iver’s 2016 release, 22, a Million. I remember always being completely captivated by this album artwork, but it wasn’t until I became a designer myself that this artwork really struck me.

I find the packaging extremely intriguing. Designer Eric Timothy Carlson included so many small details that help bring this album cover to life. I love all the little symbols and hieroglyphics that bring unity to the piece as a whole. I also find the the contrast of colors, as well as the ying-yang symbol super interesting. I’m always extremely inspired by album art and vinyl packaging, as I hope to someday make a career out of it!
