Heat Transfer

This week at Panther, I got to learn the process of heat transferring a T-shirt. I have learned embroidery and screen printing, so I was looking forward to learning this third method.

We start by printing and cutting the logo or design out of vinyl. These specific shirts were for Sanford Health- Panther Graphics does a lot of the apparel for Sanford. Carefully removing the vinyl backing from the design was the trickiest part. I learned the best method is to take it slow.

The heat press machine heats all the way up to 300 degrees. Once it is fully pre-heated, it is as simple as using a ruler to center your design and pressing down with the handle for 15 seconds. And that’s it! Definitely the easiest out of the three methods for apparel printing.
